To describe the A’-profile (pneumothorax)

This video shows an abolished lung sliding (at the right, the M-mode pattern of the stratosphere sign). No B-line is visible. This profile is called A’ profile. Characteristic pattern of a pneumothorax. Time permitting, the detection of a lung point will definitely confirm the diagnosis.

Lung point

This video shows a characteristic pattern of frontal lung point, an all-or-nothing rule, where an A’-profile is suddenly replaced by, here, a B-profile, in concert with respiratory cycle. In this patient, the lung point was localized around the PLAPS-point, indicating a substantial volume of pneumothorax.
